About MCEDC:
Major County Economic Development is a Non-Profit (501C4) Corporation incorporated under the laws of the State of Oklahoma. The identifying words "Major County" are used expressly to describe the area the corporation serves. The corporation is an independent stand alone entity. The corporation is not tax exempt. It must file tax returns and the corporation is required to pay sales tax.
Corporate by-laws state that Board Members will be appointed by: City of Fairview (3), Board of County Commissioners (3), Cleo State Bank and Meno Guaranty Bank (1), Fairview Savings and Loan Association (1), Community National Bank (1), Farmers and Merchants National Bank (1), Fairview Chamber of Commerce (1), and the appointed Board can further nominate and elect additional Board Members at their discretion.
The Board itself annually elects a five member Executive Committee from the membership who are charged with the day to day operations of the corporation. Full Board Meetings are held quarterly or more often if needed.
MCEDC is a county wide economic development organization whose purpose is to create quality jobs through business retention, expansion and recruitment of new business and provide technical assistance, networking and marketing for cities, towns and businesses within Major County.
